Australian soprano Morgan Balfour, praised for her “thrilling clarity” (Sydney Morning Herald) enjoys a career that spans either side of the Pacific Ocean. 

As a noted interpreter of early music and with a strong affinity for the concert stage, Morgan has shared her "pure liquid soprano" as a soloist in engagements with the San Francisco Symphony, American Bach Soloists, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia, Cantata Collective, San Francisco Bach Choir, California Bach Society, Madison Bach Musicians and Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

Morgan made her European debut in 2023 with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart’s JSB Ensemble, and received praise for her "crystal clear tone (that) conveyed a broad palette of emotional and vocal colors." In 2022 she was a Virginia Best Adams Fellow at the Carmel Bach Festival.

Alongside her concert work, Morgan has performed extensively in operas from Purcell to Britten. She has appeared twice with Pinchgut Opera, most recently in their production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen. Other roles of note include Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, the titular role in Rodelinda, Younger Alyce in Glory Denied, Frasquita in Carmen, Governess in The Turn of the Screw, and Meleagro in Handel's Atalanta.

As a Resident Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Morgan spent the 2019 - 2020 season covering the roles of Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Musetta in La bohème and was scheduled to perform Mrs Grady in The Shining

In addition to her appearances as a soloist, Morgan is an AGMA member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, and has participated in numerous projects including the GRAMMY Award-winning recording of Kaija Saariaho’s Adriana Mater. A career highlight was performing the soprano solo in Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms at Michael Tilson Thomas's 80th birthday celebrations with the San Francisco Symphony. Morgan also performs as an extra member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus and regularly appears with American Bach Soloists Cantorei. 

Morgan is a prize winner in numerous vocal competitions including the Handel Aria Competition, Lyndon Woodside Oratorio Solo Competition, The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Dame Joan Sutherland Bel Canto Competition, Australian Singing Competition, Colorado Bach Ensemble Competition, and Kentucky Bach Audrey Rooney Vocal Competition. Outside of her work as a classical vocalist, Morgan can be heard on the game soundtrack of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
